We would like to invite you to participate in our next Writing Behind Bars greeting card collection drive for residents at George W. Hill Correctional Facility (GWHCF). There are a variety of card choices to select from including Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanza, New Year’s, and plain blank cards.
“Last Spring at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, DelcoCPR collected over 40 boxes of cards for George W. Hill residents. We are excited to launch the Writing Behind Bars Collection Drive a second time this year with a winter holiday theme,” said DelcoCPR Leadership Team member and Direct Service Coordinator Gwendolyn McCullough. “Providing prison residents with a means to communicate with loved ones, especially during the holidays, can be a therapeutic exercise and may give them a chance to reflect, redeem and re-connect with people in the outside world. We are happy to provide them with a means to do so.”
We are collecting greeting cards through an Amazon wishlist and they will be shipped directly to the DelcoCPR leadership team who will deliver them to GWHCF. (Note: To donate cards to the prison, items must be kept in their secure Amazon packaging, so direct donations are not available at this time.) Holiday cards will be distributed by George W. Hill staff with postage provided to residents so cards can be mailed out just in time for the holidays. The last day to donate cards will be December 10, 2020.
